The XSTRM Lab is a state-of-the-art research facility focused on interdisciplinary investigations into the extreme mechanics of materials. We deliberately break materials and structures—not just to make them stronger, but to understand the fundamental mechanisms behind their failure. Our work spans dynamic fracture and fragmentation, impact physics, and in-situ damage evolution, with material characterization under extreme mechanical, thermal, and electrical loading. We collaborate closely with partners across the defense, energy, and aerospace sectors.
